As Heavy Rain's release approached, we talked allot about what Quantic Dream was trying to accomplish. It was clearly a shift from what the vast majority of games are doing. No shooter-type of gameplay or anything that resembles "traditional gameplay" would be allowed.

Some of us were excited. Some of us were unsure. The rest laughed at the idea. So I decided to reach out to Sony and see about getting an interview with the development studio about the very focused idea of storytelling.

There aren’t many sports games, in my opinion, that you can be sure will be a quality game each year it’s released.

Sometimes one of the hockey games is good. This year, EA’s NBA Live was solid. And Madden will sometimes turn out to be more than a roster update. Sometimes.

But I’ve been able to count on MLB: The Show pretty much every year. And by the looks of it, this year’s version isn’t going to disappoint either.
